Plant Type: Evergreen perennial.
Size (HxW): 2-4m x 1.5-2.5m
Depth & Spacing: Plant at same level as in the pot with roots spread evenly under soil surface. Plant 1.5-2.5m apart.
Soil: Moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Dry tolerant once established.
Aspect: Full sun to semi shade
Climate: Cool to Sub Tropical
Frost: Tender – protect while young, once established, they survive our mountain frosts with ease. Foliage may be damaged but reshoots with warmer weather, if damaged leave it on until the threat of frost has passed to offer some future protection.
Water: Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low. Better flowers with consistent moisture over summer.
Fertiliser: A well balanced fertiliser in spring while establishing.
Flowering Time: Spring to autumn
After Flower Care: Trim to shape as required.
Notes: All parts of this plant are toxic if eaten, and taste terrible! Responds well to pruning if you want to contain growth. They will only need pruning if they become too large for their lot, or you would like to shape them into a tree. In pots, use a good quality potting mix and keep the pot moist during active growth and fertilise regularly. Take care of slugs and snails with new plants.
