- Moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. In pots use a good quality potting mix and add some slow release fertiliser.

- Full sun to semi shade. Protect from afternoon sun in warm climes.

- Hardy to -5C. If you get down to much more than that they are best as annuals and you should wait to plant until spring.
- Water
- Water to establish then only if rainfall is low during active growth. Keep pots just moist year round – they may need daily watering in summer depending on their position. They don’t like winter wet.

- Fertilise well during spring and summer to encourage healthy growth and plenty of flowers. You can use any complete fertiliser you have.

- Regular cutting of flowers promotes healthy growth and perennial propensities – you can do this for vases or just dead head as they finish. Add some fertiliser during the flowering season for best blooms. Cut back to half in autumn, after the flowering has finished and add some mulch, they will be back to blooming in no time.
- Notes
- Flowers are long lasting and excellent for vases and posies. Divide every few years to increase stock. They won’t set seed so flower for a long time.
