Botanical Name: Ribes sanguineum

Plant Type: Deciduous shrub
Size (HxW): 1-2.5m x 1-1.5m
Depth & Spacing: Plant at the same level as in the pot with the roots spread evenly below. Space 1-1.5m apart, closer for a more immediate effect.
Soil: Moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil is ideal.
Aspect: Full sun to light shade. Ideally shelter from the hot afternoon sun.
Climate: Cool to Temperate

Water: Water to establish, this takes 4-6 wks of regular watering for the roots to penetrate the surrounding soil, then keep moist when in flower if rainfall is low. Fertiliser: Apply a well balanced fertiliser in late winter, then mulch.
Flowering Time: Summer to autumn
After Flower Care: Prune during dormancy, from late autumn to winter. Cut out any wiry, unhealthy or low growing branches. Once plants are established, you should prune heavier, but in the establishing stages go lightly. Prune branches that have bloomed down to two sets of buds.
Notes: Beneficial insects and birds will adore this shrub. You can take hard wood cuttings in winter.
