Queen Fabiola

Botanical Name: Triteleia laxa Syn. Brodiaea laxa
Family: Liliaceae
Plant Type: Bulb/Corm
Size (HxW): 30-50cm x 10cm
Depth & Spacing: Plant 5-10cm deep (three times the height of the bulb) and the same apart. Soil: Moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Brodiaea is quite adaptable, but won’t cope in boggy soils.
Aspect: Full sun to semi shade
Climate: Cool to Mediterranean
Frost: Hardy. Though if your ground freezes, we recommend a winter mulch.
Water: Water in to establish, then only if rainfall is low during active growth. Keep relatively dry during summer dormancy.
Fertiliser: In poor soils, add a well balanced fertiliser in spring – they are not heavy feeders. Flowering Time: Late spring to summer
After Flower Care: No care required! These bulbs are pretty self-sufficient. They multiply at a moderate rate, and can be lifted and divided every four years or so, during summer-autumn after the foliage has yellowed and died back.
Notes: Good cut flowers that last up to two weeks in a vase. Divide every 3-5 years as they become overcrowded.
