Galanthus woronowii is a wonderful plant specimen. The dainty flowers have bright white outer petals, while the inner petals with a sweet, green inverted love heart marking. A good ground cover.
The foliage for this species is a little different to most Galanthus. It is green and fairly upright with a waxy, glossy sheen. It's botanical name is for Russian botanist, Georg Woronow (1847-1931).
Giant Snowdrops, or Galanthus woronowii are excellent for naturalizing under trees, cute in pots and divine in rockeries. These bulbs are endemic to areas from Turkey to Southern Russia and they are quite tolerant of dry conditions and rocky soils so need good drainage. Though that said it seems to multiply better when kept relatively moist in growth. They are a little shorter than the common G. nivallis.
