This tireless performer is perfect for a moist, part shade position. The narrow spires of rich pink hover gracefully above the mid green leaves. Renowned internationally, it is good to have it here in Australia.
A lovely choice for adding vertical interest and movement to the garden. At home in a cottage garden and just as well suited to a more rugged terrain. Bred in Belgium by Chris Ghyselen it is a hot new colour for the species.
Persicaria ‘Amethyst Summer’ flower heads can even be left stand into winter. Beneficial insects and birds adore these blooms. The narrow, pointed foliage has a delicate red edge summer/autumn.
Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Persicaria ‘Amethyst Summer’ looks fabulous as a ground cover, in rock gardens, along the garden edges or in containers. Plant in a full sun to part shade position. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low. Dry tolerant once it settles in.
