Persicaria 'Amethyst Summer'
This tireless performer is perfect for a moist, part shade position in the garden. The narrow spires of rich pink flowers hover gracefully above the bright to mid green leaves.
Persicaria 'Amethyst Summer' makes a lovely choice for adding vertical interest and movement to the garden. It is at home in a cottage garden and just as well suited to a more rugged terrain. Bred in Belgium by Chris Ghyselen it is a hot new colour for the species. Renowned internationally, it is wonderful to have it available here in Australia
Persicaria 'Amethyst Summer' flower heads can even be left stand into winter. Beneficial insects and birds adore these blooms. The narrow, pointed foliage blushes red in autumn. The leaves grow to around 15-20cm, the flowers around 10cm.
Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Persicaria 'Amethyst Summer' looks fabulous as a ground cover, in rock gardens, along the garden edges or in containers. Plant in a full sun to part shade position. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low. Dry tolerant once it settles in.
