Deutzia ‘Candidissima’ has an upright, rounded habit with elegant, arching branches of emerald foliage. Spring to summer this shrub is covered in gorgeous double white flowers. They have a light, honey perfume.
Deutzia ‘Candidissima’ is quick to establish and easy to care for. It makes a lovely addition to a shrubbery, border, bed, cottage gardens or embankments.
In winter, once the leaves have dropped it shows off its attractive trunk and branches which, like a fine wine, improves with age, with peeling brown bark.
Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Best in a sunny spot with protestation from the hot afternoon sun. Water in well to establish, it takes 4-6 weeks of regular watering for the roots to penetrate the surrounding soil. Once settled in, then you only need worry if rainfall is low, where the flowering will benefit from supplemental watering. Prune after flowering in summer.
Deutzia scabra ‘Candidissima’ is commonly known as Fuzzy Deutzia because of the hirsute leaves.
