Botanical: ‘Candidissima’, ‘Magicien’: Deutzia x hybrida. ‘Lavender Time’: D. compacta
Plant Type: Deciduous shrub
Size (HxW): ‘Candidissima’: 150-250cm x 100-200cm. ‘Magicien’: 90-170 x 90-170cm. ‘Lavender Time’: 80-150cm x 80-120cm.
Depth & Spacing: Plant at the same height as in the pot with the roots spread evenly below. Space 100-200cm apart.
Soil: Moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil is ideal.
Aspect: Full sun to semi shade, protect from the hot afternoon sun. In too much shade they won’t flower well, they like a bit of light.
Climate: Cool to Mediterranean
Frost: Fully hardy
Water: Water in, plants take around 4-6 weeks of regular watering to establish, then you only need worry if rainfall is low. Flowering will benefit from supplemental watering in dry conditions.
Fertiliser: Use a complete fertiliser applied annually in early spring.
Flowering Time: Spring to summer
After Flower Care: Prune as required (this won’t be in the first couple of years while they establish) once they have finished flowering. Remove dead branches in winter when they are exposed. They flower on two year old wood.
Notes: You can propagate with cuttings (summer) as desired. Keep an eye out for Aphids while establishing and treat as appropriate.
