Japanese Wind Flower 'Royal Candy'
New in 2025.
Short delay - awaiting stock

Bountiful, upright stems of gorgeous, semi to double, baby pink blooms with a picotee edge and big boss of golden stamens. A real sweet treat with months of pickable flowers. The deep green, maple like leaves grow low on the stems, allowing the blooms to shine.
For ease of care, impact and versatility, Japanese Anemones are one of our favourite plants. They can grow well with just 4 hours of sun a day, but can cope with more if kept watered. Good in coastal gardens, cottage gardens and rabbits aren’t interested!
The flowers open on narrowly branched stems above lush, deep green, toothed foliage. Japanese Anemones will quickly grow to form a healthy clump and the seed can be left to self sow or collected. They are a good choice for adding height to a border and really don’t make too many demands. Try them beneath trees, along edges (mine are in a narrow low light pathway along the house), in large pots, massed in morning sun/ part shade spot or even in the cutting garden.
The longer Japanese Anemones have to establish, the more flowers you will be able to enjoy. Then, even after the flowers have faded, the seed heads remain decorative and can be left to extend the show.
Plant Japanese Anemone in moist, humus rich, well drained soil. They grow best in morning sun or part shade, though with a bit of extra water can succeed in sun. A light application of fertiliser in spring will help encourage the best blooms. Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low. They are incredibly versatile, tolerating moist soils and even dry soils once established.
Cut back Japanese Anemones in winter when they become untidy and add some mulch to protect the plant if you live in a cold climate. Alternatively, in more mild areas you can leave the foliage until spring and then prune to tidy, allowing the fresh new growth to shine. They can briefly disappear in winter and return triumphantly with the spring, rising just as the spring bulbs are beginning to fade.
The flowers of Japanese Anemones can be picked for lasting indoor displays. It is easy to grow and easy on the eye.
Japanese Anemone ‘Royal Candy’ is also known as Anemone ‘Ifocan’.
