The fragrant flowers have the long trumpet shape of the Christmas Lily with the reflexed petals of the Turk's Cap Lily. The result is glorious, fragrant, long flowering blooms with a decadent dusting of maroon speckles.
Lilium ‘Lankon’ is the first commercial cross of Lilium longiflorum (Christmas Lilies) and Lilium lankongense (Japanese Turk's Cap Lilies). Released with a splash at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2011, it continues to impress.
The flowers of Lily ‘Lankon’ open freely on strong stems. This new cross was not done the old fashioned way, the original seeds were produced in a laboratory, using advanced techniques under test tube conditions. From here they were taken by process to the garden where you can enjoy them today.
Plant Lilium 'Lankon' in a permanent position in the garden, the longer they establish the more flowers they will bear. Ensure you fertilise well, this will ensure a bounty of blooms. In warmer climates, grow in part shade or morning sun so the flowers last longer. Blooms are suitable for picking.
