Agastache 'Sweet Lili'

Fabulous violet and apricot flowers. Tough and dry tolerant. 60-120 x 40-60cm. Full sun to light shade. Flowers Sum-Aut Agastache ?Sweet Lili? has fabulous violet and apricot flowers that unfurl early summer and power on until the cold weather settles in. The blooms cover around 30cm of the stems and sway in the gentlest of breezes, creating admirable movement in the garden. It isn?t fussy and is amazingly low maintenance.

Bred in Australia by the plant doyen, David Glenn and rated most popular plant by Paul Bangay (Guide to Plants) it is certainly garden worthy. This Australian garden legend is favoured by landscape designers because it makes it easy to create gorgeous, low maintenance colourful displays.

Agastache 'Sweet Lili' looks fantastic in dry beds, cottage gardens, rock gardens and large containers. It is an excellent plant for attracting birds, bees and other beneficial insects to your garden.

Agastache ?Sweet Lili? has fragrant leaves that smell like a blend of aniseed and lemon - they are even edible and can be used in salads or teas. This fragrant attribute makes them a wonderful choice for using paths where you can brush up against it, or you could pick a sprig or two and bring indoors to enjoy in a vase.

Standing up to the heat and tolerant of poor soils, so long as they are well drained, Agastache are ideal for providing long lasting colour as a dry garden plant. Agastache plants prefer a full sun to light shade position, they need water to establish, then only if rainfall is low, however the flowering will last longer if the plants are kept moist.

We recommend dead heading your Agastache flowers early in the season to encourage more blooms and more compact growth that won?t require staking. No time to prune, no worries, you will have taller stems that will still be blooming but may require a little prop up. It is a good idea to cut your plants back to the ground in winter or early spring to maintain a healthy bush and allow the new growth to shine.

Agastache is also known as 'Hummingbird Mint', and is a native to the south western U.S.A.
