Allium 'Bridal Mist'
Allium 'Bridal Mist' is a tough, ornamental garlic with dainty, snow white flowers from late spring to summer (from around November). The blooms open in loose umbels (to 10cm) and can last for around three weeks. The flowers are good for picking and can even be dried.
These tough bulbs are easy to grow and good for naturalising. We think it is a good idea to plant them in massed groups, or clumps for best effect. They are water savvy, as they should be kept relatively dry during dormancy and only need to be watered if rainfall is low during growth.
Allium 'Bridal Mist' looks sensational in borders, beds, rockeries or pots.
Alliums are tough, hardy, and beautiful too! They are members of the onion family and when bruised, or crushed the foliage smells just like onions.
Plant Alliums into well drained soil in a sunny position. They will need at least six hours of sun and a warm spot in the garden to thrive. Plant to a depth of around 20cm or four times the height of the bulb. Once planted, the bulbs are best left to naturalise. This means you can relax and leave them in the ground year after year and just enjoy the late spring flowers. To help them on the way, add a well balanced fertiliser in autumn. It is a good idea to protect the new foliage from slugs and snails.
Our Tip: Plant the bulbs amongst perennials to keep the foliage hidden. As with most Alliums, the leaves begin yellow as the blooms take off.
