Clematis Jackmanii Hybrid 'Hagley Hybrid'
Enjoy masses of soft pink blooms from late spring to autumn with this robust and prolific Clematis. Each flower stretches to 15cm across. The pink has hints of lavender that intensify as the day progresses. As they mature, the soft pink continues to soften to an elegant creamy pink shade. Ideal on an arbour, pergola or trellis.
Clematis ‘Hagley Hybrid’ is pruning group 3, so when the flowers finish you simply prune to around 30cm.
Jackmanii Clematis hybrids are gorgeous, large flowering Clematis. The strong, vining tendrils are covered in flowers, like brilliant jewels strung up in your garden, for a month or more. Perfect to soften harsh edges - posts, pergolas fences and walls or even trees.
Jackmanii Clematis hybrids make a statement of beauty without being overpowering with their spring to autumn flower show. They are easy grow and ideal for beginners, requiring little in the way of care and offering rich rewards.
Clematis generally grow well where Roses grow well. They are also excellent in combination. You can use similar colours for a lovely blend or create some drama with contrasting shades. In fact, Clematis intermingle well with a whole host of plants, shrubs and trees.
The old adage is to plant your clematis so their 'head' is in the sun and their 'feet' are in the shade. In other words they like their root zone to be cool and protected, and the stem to grow up into a sunny position. You can protect the root zone with mulch and or by using other plants to shield them.
Clematis can be trained to grow on a trellis, fence, through trees and shrubs, along pergolas or any where you like! They are so versatile, you can even use them as a ground cover. They need something narrow enough to twine around, such as wire.
Grow Clematis in humus rich, moist, well drained soil. They need good drainage or the roots will rot. Plant so they will receive around six hours sun a day and shield from the hot afternoon rays. You can also grow Clematis in pots.
To perform at their best they should be fertilised well, simply use a Rose Fertiliser every three months or so.
