Evening Primrose 'Apricot Delight'
Bountiful, fragrant flowers that open lemon, and age through apricot and then to pink before the day is done. Each only lasts a day but they make up for this in their numbers. The fragrance is strongest in the evening. Up to five months of flowers can open from summer to autumn. With more as they establish. Each is around 7cm across.
Evening Primrose ‘Apricot Delight’ can be grown in the garden or in pot and is well suited to hot, dry beds. You can dead head spent flowers to encourage repeat blooms. You can pick early and enjoy the flowers in salads. ??
Grow Oenothera in full sun to light shade. Very tolerant of poor soils. Water in well, this takes around four weeks, then they are dry tolerant once established. Leave a few flower heads to set seed for future generations and to increase your display, they aren’t heavy seeders by any means. The seeds will germinate naturally in spring or you can collect it to sow at the same time.
Oenothera is commonly known as Evening Primrose, though the flowers of this plant open in the daylight. Try growing in rock gardens, towards the front of beds and borders, along paths or even in a pot.
