Grape Hyacinth Mount Hood
Stunning spikes of blue and white florets. The base of the bloom deepens as the flower ages creating an even more defined hombre effect. Free flowering with early and long lasting grass like foliage.
Muscari ‘Mount Hood’ is made up of both fertile and infertile flowers. The infertile are the white florets at the top of the bloom, and these will outlast the blue.
Grape Hyacinths or Muscari are great for rockeries, pots, nooks and crannies, along pathways, drifts, grass plantings or at the front of beds. The flowers open late winter to early spring and look brilliant with Miniature Daffodils or Dwarf Iris. The grass like foliage emerges late autumn to winter.
Plant Grape Hyacinths into well drained soil, humus rich soil, they will manage in poor soils with good drainage. Water them in, then natural rainfall should take care of the rest, you will only need to water them if they dry out during active growth.
Grape Hyacinth bulbs are best left to naturalise, where they will multiply to form nice clumps. Adding some general purpose fertiliser as the flowers are forming, and again as they are fading will ensure good growth in the following season.
