Magnolia 'Little Gem'

Magnolia ‘Little Gem’ is just that, a gem. It is evergreen and compact enough to fit in all sorts of small spaces, including large pots. It works well in big places too. It’s dense growth makes it a terrific as a hedge.

Magnolia ‘Little Gem’ flowers after just a few years of establishment. The plentiful, gorgeous, cream blooms open in spring and summer with a delightful perfume. The leaves are a handsome, deep green, with a fuzzy, rust underside.

Plant Magnolia ‘Little Gem’ in a full sun, to semi shade position. Moderately fertile, to humus rich, well drained soil is ideal. Acidic soils are preferred. If grown in warm climates will require more watering whilst establishing. It is easy to grow and adaptable to a range of conditions. Prune in winter as required.

As a mature tree it is naturally broadly conical. Magnolia ‘Little Gem’ is suitable for growing in large containers, be sure to the keep the water and fertiliser up to them if you choose this growing method. It is commonly known as Bull Bay Magnolia.
