Raspberry 'Nootka'
Raspberry ‘Nootka’ offers high yields of bright red, medium sized, fragrant berries. A self fertile Raspberry from Canadian breeding with good, firm fruit.
Raspberry ‘Nootka’ has good rot resistant fruits that freeze well. Harvest for four to five weeks over summer with a smaller autumn yield. This floricane variety that fruits on new growth, and on the previous year’s growth that has received winter chill.
Raspberries grow well in cool climates and are pretty easy care and the plants produce reliably for many years. If apples and Peonies grow well for you, so too with raspberries.
Plant Raspberries in full sun. A humus rich, well drained soil is ideal. Space 150-180cm apart. Plant the cane quite shallow, around 10cm deep. Water in and keep moist when in flower and fruit. Add some mulch to help with water retention and weed reduction.
