Species Tulip 'Tinka'

The soft, creamy, primrose yellow inner petals are decorated a deep pink to red reverse. This creates a beautiful bicolour effect that changes as the flowers open and close with the sun. The slender flowers sit lovely and upright on the strong stems, the leaves are narrow and fairly upright.

Clusiana tulips are commonly known as Lady Tulips. ‘Tinka’ has larger flowers than the species.

Species Tulips have a more relaxed or whimsical feel than the common hybridized varieties. If planted in a well drained soil in a sunny spot they can multiply happily for decades. They don’t mind getting hot in summer, unlike most spring flowering bulbs as they are used to being ‘baked’ in their native homelands of Central Asia.
