Veronica 'Blue Regiment'
Rich, indigo blue spires dazzle throughout the summer on 120cm stems. This is a wonderful perennial to use at the middle or back of a border for height, vertical interest, movement and of course colour. They even make it easy, being dry tolerant and low maintenance.
Hand selected over 30 years ago from plant doyen, Dennis Norgate’s farm, it has been lovingly preserved and propagated by Antique Perennials.
The blooms open freely through the hot, summer months and with dead heading, or a mid season cut back, can last well into autumn. After the show finishes, you can allow the shoots to stand into winter where they turn from bronze to black and the birds can enjoy the seeds.
The mid green foliage grows along the stems of Veronica ‘Blue Regiment’. You can enjoy more and more flowers as they establish.
Grow in moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Plant in full sun to semi shade. Water to establish, this takes 4-6 weeks of regular watering, they are dry tolerant once established. Cut back in late winter or early spring to allow the new growth to shine. Pretty well pest and disease free, even rabbits don’t bother them.
Veronica plants are commonly known as Speedwell.
