Coreopsis 'Heliot'

Botanical: Coreopsis verticillata. ‘Heliot’: C. grandiflora.
Plant Type: Semi Evergreen perennial. In cold climes with hard frost they may be annuals, in the Dandenong Ranges where we get a few frosts they remain evergreen.
Size (HxW): 20-30cm x 20-60cm
Depth & Spacing: Plant at the same level as in the pot with roots evenly spread below soil surface. Space 20-60cm apart.
Soil: Humus rich, well drained soil is best.
Aspect: Full sun
Climate: Cool to Mediterranean
Frost: Fully hardy
Water: Water well until established, then only if rainfall is low during active growth. They should not be allowed to sit in water over winter. Water deeply once a week to give the roots the best chance to establish.
Fertiliser: A light application of a well balanced fertiliser spring and or autumn will increase blooming.
Flowering Time: Early spring to winter
After Flower Care: To get the most out of your flowering season, you can dead head regularly. OR, in the middle of summer, as flowering slows, you can cut them back to a third, then add some fertiliser to encourage a second flush. Lightly prune again after the final flush of blooms, to maintain compact, healthy growth.
Notes: It is a good idea to protect the foliage from slugs and snails. Divide in early spring every 2-3 years. Flowers are suitable for picking and removing them will likely increase your blooms.
