Coreopsis 'Heliot'
Coreopsis 'Heliot' is a Fleuroselect* gold medal winner, this is the penultimate award for an ornamental plant which speaks volumes for its performance and garden potential.
This champion grower makes a lovely garden filler, pot spiller or edging plant. For months and months on end, the sunshine yellow, daisy like flowers bloom in abundance.
Coreopsis 'Heliot' is a compact cultivar that is easy to grow and the straight stems make them ideal for cutting, what's more, doing this encourages even more blooms. The bright petals have a decorative, mahogany banding, the blooms are around 5cm across.
To get the most out of your flowering season, you can dead head regularly OR, in the middle of summer, as flowering slows, you can cut Coreopsis 'Heliot' right back to the base, then add some fertiliser to encourage a second flower flush. Then prune again after the final flush of blooms, to maintain compact, healthy growth, it is pretty well non stop.
The foliage of Coreopsis 'Heliot' is light to mid green, to around 10cm at the base. It grows up the stem but is at is most dense towards the base.
Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Choose a full sun to lightly shaded position. Also a great choice for pots. Coreopsis is commonly known as Tickseed.
