A neat, dwarf grass with upright stems of green and gold banded leaves.

Come summer, the zebra stems are joined by winsome red plumes stretch above the leaves. These flowers add around 50cm to the height of the plant, and will stick around into autumn, turning gold as they mature.

Miscanthus ‘Gold Bar’ is best cut back to the ground in winter or early spring. This will allow space for the new stems shoot (early spring). They emerge plain green and the gold colouring will come out as the weather warms.

Suitable for and stunning in containers.

Plant Miscanthus ‘Gold Bar’ in a sunny spot with well drained soil. It takes its time to establish (2-3 yrs) so won’t overtake like some grasses can. Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. In sandy soils you will need to water more often. They can be left to stand through winter and will senesce to tan when the weather cools.
