Brugmansias are fast growing shrubs, or small trees that bring a touch of the exotic to your garden. They will flower for most of the year in warm climates and only stop blooming in autumn and winter in cool climates.
Brugmansia are easy to grow plants and don’t require much care. They will only need pruning if they become too large for their lot, or you would like to shape them into a tree. Plant your Brugmansia in full sun to part shade in cool climates. In warmer climates, morning sun or part shade is best.
Brugmansia also grow well in pots, it’s best to choose a large container and fill it with good quality, well draining potting mix. Keep the pot moist during active growth and fertilise regularly. If you live in a cold climate, growing your Brugmansia in pots means you can easily protect them from harsh frosts as they establish. Whereever you live you may need to protect your young Brugmansia shrubs from slugs and snails. You should also keep an eye out for Aphids.
The flowers of Brugmansia are most fragrant at night; as they are pollinated by moths.
