Scabiosa Egyptian Rose

Pincushion flowers in dramatically deep shades. Upright stems of flowers open from summer to late autumn. They make good cut flowers and have an earthy, honey fragrance. The blooms are a magnet for bees and other beneficial insects and will open for up to 16 weeks.
This valiant plant grows and flowers with ease in poor soils and they don’t need a lot of water to thrive.
Plant in a sunny garden spot with moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water to establish then only if rainfall is low, they are dry tolerant. Remove spent flowers regularly during growth to keep plants tidy and prolong the flowering season. They are short lived perennials but give a lot as they grow and will self seed for future generations. The bristly seed heads are quite pretty too.
