This ornamental garlic is easy to grow. The thick, strappy foliage emerges mid spring and grows similar to the way tulip leaves do. From late spring to summer, beautiful, loose umbels (to 8cm) of golden stars bloom.
Alliums are tough, hardy, and beautiful too! They are members of the onion family and when bruised, or crushed the foliage smells just like onions.
Plant Allium moly into well drained soil in a sunny position. They will need at least six hours of sun and a warm spot in the garden to thrive. Plant to a depth of around four times the height of the bulb. Once planted, the bulbs are best left to naturalise. This means you can relax and leave them in the ground year after year and just enjoy the late spring flowers. To help them on the way, add a well balanced fertiliser in autumn.
It is a good idea to protect new foliage from slugs and snails.
