A clump forming, shade loving, evergreen ground cover with gorgeous foliage and elegant blooms. A new release from the team at Antique Perennials. The leaves form generous clumps of patterned emerald foliage. Summer to autumn, airy red stems of bright white flowers open and last well. Ideal in mid to deep shade, it will gradually spread by seed and is by no means invasive.
A boon beneath deciduous or evergreen trees, in a rock garden, as an edging plant or along pathways. Endemic to Japan where it grows in woodland areas.
Plant in moderately fertile to humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Best in a woodland light – filtered light to morning sun or part shade. You could also grow in rockeries, along pathways, garden edging, in pots or hanging baskets. Water to establish, it will take around 4-6 weeks for the roots to penetrate the surrounding soil and they should be regularly watered until then. Once established they are quite dry tolerant. They tend to rot in boggy soils.
