Rudbeckia 'Little Henry'

Golden, quilled petals surround the russet, raised cone from midsummer to frost. They have a long vase life, or can be left standing with ornamental seed heads into winter. A tall, narrow perennial that won’t take up much space but offers a big impact.

This is an invaluable plant for beds and borders, they flower and flower and flower with very little care. Try adding these yellow flowers to complement blue and purple Salvias or Echinacea. The blooms of Rudbeckia will last well in a vase.

The mid green foliage is finely divided leaves and is covered with small hairs, it remains more compact than your run of the mill Rudbeckias. It has a sweet smell when rubbed against, hence the common name Sweet Rudbeckia or Sweet Coneflower

Plant in full sun to light shade, they need at least six hours of sun a day to flower at their best. Plant into moderately fertile, to humus rich, well drained soil. Water to establish and then only if rainfall is low. Divide if they outgrow their space. It isn’t bothered by powdery mildew and doesn’t need staking. Plant where it is protected from strong winds.

Dead head regularly to increase bloom time, though it is impressive even without.
