Tomato 'Green Zebra' is a high yielding Tomato with outstanding flavour. The fruit is medium sized, around 5cm across and ripens to a green and gold, zebra pattern. This colouring helps to disguise them from the birds. The sweet fruit is lime when cut open and has exceptional flavour. There is a good balance of sweetness and acidity erring on the tart side.
Tomato 'Green Zebra' was developed in the 1980's and is on track to be an heirloom variety as it is consistently loved and grown around the world. This Tomato is ripe when the green stripes take on a yellow hue. Tomatoes ripen in heat, not sunlight so if you are in doubt you can generally ripen on a windowsill, the texture will change slightly as it ripens with a little give. The riper they are, the sweeter they will be.
Tomatoes are delicious, fun and easy to grow.
Supermarket Tomatoes seem to be a constant disappointment as they are flavourless or floury. Growing your own ensures a delicious, organic crop you can both enjoy and be proud of. Not only that, Tomatoes are such heavy croppers there is usually some left over to share with family and friends.
You will need a sunny spot with fertile, well drained soil to grow Tomatoes. Water in and then keep them moist when they are in flower or fruit. Add some Sulphate of Potash when planting Tomatoes to give them some get up and go. All our Tomatoes come with detailed growing instructions.
