Aquilegia Crimson Star
Garden stars.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Crimson red petals and spurs with a white corolla. The blooms open freely for a long period.
The `Star Series` of Aquilegias have large flowers, up to 10cm across. The blooms are more upward facing than many Aquilegia varieties. They are single colour blooms with white corollas.
Aquilegias elegant, fern like leaves are a rare blue-green colour. They make a beautiful foil for other plants and they develop in early spring, just in time to fill in for the fading spring bulbs. The flowers open over the foliage on narrow, branched stems.
Aquilegia 'Star Series' is suitable for growing in a lightly shaded border or morning sun. They look best in massed plantings or in large containers. After the initial flowering has finished, cut the stems back to the basal foliage for future blooms. Leave the last flowers of the season to form seed heads for future generations of plants. Keep in mind seedlings are unlikely to flower true to type as they hybridise easily.
To keep your plants healthy, ensure good air flow around the plants to avoid powdery mildew and watch for aphids. Aquilegia should be planted in moist, well drained humus rich soil.
Aquilegias are commonly known as Columbines or Granny`s Bonnets.
