Exotic appeal.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Loose umbels of bell shaped flowers open on straight stems that stretch up to a metre in summer. The bells have a green base blending into cream and purple red shades. Each flower is 2-2.5cm long and there is 10-30 in each umbel. Once the flowers have finished, the stems remain ornamental; the umbels turn upwards, holding the seed heads.
Mediterranean Bells is now known botanically as Nectaroscordum siculum, but was previously a member of the Allium family, and known as Allium siculum. When crushed, the leaves have a garlic smell. The basal leaves are 30 to 40cm long. The leaves fade as the flowers begin to take off.
Plant into well drained, soil in a sunny spot. Water in, and keep moist in their first season. Once established they are dry tolerant. Ensure they don't become soggy over summer dormancy. When the clumps become overcrowded, dig and divide in spring.
Another common name for Mediterranean Bells is Sicilian Honey Garlic.
