A fully double form of Galtonia candicans.
Galtonia 'Moonbeam' is twice the height, has rose bud like flowers and produces many more blooms than the normal bell shaped Galtonia.
The racemes of Galtonia 'Moonbeam' carries 10-40 flowers each stem and can reach 2m! The flowers are creamy white with a light fragrance. The blooms last well in a vase and their height is handy in arrangements. The foliage is lance shaped and grey-green.
An excellent cultivar which is drought tolerant once established. A fertile, well drained soil, with an adequate water supply during the growing season is required. Plant in a sunny, undisturbed position for a good display year after year. In areas north of Sydney they need a little shade. Bulbs can be left in the ground in mild to warm climates.
Discovered in 1982 by a garden enthusiast in a small town of New Zealand, this extraordinary bulb has been bred to increase in numbers and has become available in Australia exclusively through Tesselaar.
