Hollyhocks Spring Celebrities Collection

Amazing dwarf Hollyhocks. The frilly, double flowers are big, each bloom is 7-9cm across, and there are up to 75 on a stem!!! The beautiful flowers are very attractive to butterflies and bees and offer nice vertical appeal.
The Hollyhock 'Spring Celebrities' Collection are remarkable, the compact plants are quick to grow and establish and do not need staking. The stems have dense branching, right from the base and they covered in handsome, rounded foliage.
Hollyhock 'Spring Celebrities' grow well in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Hollyhock likes a full sun position and should be sheltered from strong winds. Grow Hollyhock 'Spring Celebrities' in garden beds, borders or containers. They grow vigorously and should be fertilised in spring and summer. Keep just moist when actively growing.

Remove the first round of spent flowers, and add some fertiliser to encourage a second flush of blooms and to promote a healthy plant. Allow the second round of flowers to set seed for future generations. Hollyhock 'Spring Celebrities' will flower in the first year from seed.

The botanic name, Alcea originated from the plant species use in medicine. It comes from Altheo which means to heal or to cure.
