Rudbeckia Giant Coneflower
Maximise your potential.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

A giant among plants, this stunning Rudbeckia is sure to turn heads. The upright stems are topped with brilliant golden blooms (to 7cm) throughout summer and into autumn. Once the petals fall, it is the pronounced dark mahogany, almost black cones that take the limelight and last into winter.
This is an invaluable plant for beds and borders, they flower easily and abundantly with very little care. Rudbeckia are hardy to heat, frost and are water wise. The silver green, large foliage grows low on the stem and is a feature in itself.
Try adding these golden yellow flowers to complement blue and purple Salvias or Echinacea. The blooms of Rudbeckia will also last well in a vase.
Plant in full sun to light shade, they need at least six hours of sun a day to flower at their best. Plant into moderately fertile, to humus rich, well drained soil, they are commendably versatile. Water to establish and then only if rainfall is low. Divide if they outgrow their space. It isn’t bothered by powdery mildew and doesn’t need staking. Plant where it is protected from strong winds.
Dead head regularly to increase bloom time, though it is impressive even without. Hugely appealing to bees and other beneficial pollinators.
