A proven winner, Peony Duchesse de Nemours is a real stand out. Introduced back in 1856, it remains a strong grower with fully double, creamy white flowers. There is a touch of green at the base of the petals that usually lightens with age. The flowers have a strong, sweet perfume.
Peonies are vigorous, long lasting garden plants with opulent blooms that make wonderful cut flowers.
Why not spoil yourself and enjoy an abundant spring to summer display of intoxicating loveliness. Peonies look exotic and temperamental and yet they are remarkably hardy and grow well in cool to temperate Australian gardens.
You may have to be patient for at least a year before you can enjoy the flowers of Peony Roses, they resent having their roots disturbed so flowering is delayed, but the wait will be justified for many years to come as they are extremely long lived.
Peony Roses need cold winters (3-5C at least) for best flowers. Peony roses are heavy feeders, so you need to fertilise them regularly. They also like lime, and lot’s of it, so be sure to indulge them.
