Expect a profusion of lavender blue blooms through summer into autumn. Hervey's Aster 'Twilight' are vigorous, hardy and offer great quantities of colourful blooms.
Each flower is 3cm across and they open in their masses. The upright stems have mid green heart shaped leaves growing along them, they do not need staking. Aster 'Twilight 'grows equally well in sun and shade.
Plant Aster 'Twilight' in borders, cottage garden, even in part shade. By dead heading your plants regularly you will promote more blooms. The flowers last well in a vase.
Once established Hervey's Aster 'Twilight' will grow successfully in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil and doesn't require a lot of water, even though it grows and flowers through the hotter times of the year.
Keep an eye out for slugs and snails as they find new foliage a delicacy. Hervey's Aster 'Twilight' has excellent mildew resistance. Dig and divide your Hervey's Aster 'Twilight' every 3-5 years.
Hervey's Aster is also known as Large leaf wood aster 'Twilight' Botanically it has a few synonyms before settling on Eurybia 'Twilight'. Syn. Aster x herveyi, Aster macrophyllus 'Twilight', Aster x commixtus 'Twilight'.
