Achillea ‘Moon Pagoda’ is tolerant of poor soils and likes a sunny position. It will also grow well in a pot.
The dark green leaves have soft, silver hairs. The leaves form a dense mat that is great for suppressing those nasty weeds.
Achillea is commonly known as Sneezewort or Yarrow. The botanical name for the common form is Achillea ptarmica. Achillea is named for the Greek mythological hero who found healing qualities in plants. Ptarmica is from the green ptario which means to sneeze. When the foliage is crushed it has a fragrance which can cause sneezing. In fact, the dried leaves were used to make sneezing powder.
In its native tongue it is known as Achillea ‘Mondpagode’.
