Panda Faced Ginger
A great choice for shade.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

The big, beautiful, heart shaped foliage is lovely and glossy with decorative, silver marbling. They are right at home in a shady border or woodland garden. The leathery, evergreen foliage is a useful ground cover.
The flowers are pretty amazing. They are creamy white with a thick, black band and, as the name suggests, look a bit like Pandas. While they are hidden beneath the leaves, if you grow them in pots you can lift them to eye level and enjoy. If they are grown in the garden, you can prune a little foliage to show them off. The blooms are pollinated by flies.
Plant Panda Faced Ginger (Asarum maximum) in humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Neutral to acid PH is preferred. Ideally, plant in semi shade to filtered light. Protect the leaves from slugs and snails.
The common name comes from the Rhizomes, which smell like ginger. Asarum grow well where Cyclamen and Hostas grow well.
Asarum maximum is a rare species hailing from China.
