Bluebell Blue

Ring in the spring with these blue beauties. The strong stems of gorgeous blue, bell shaped flowers shine. These bulbs are versatile and hardy.

Bluebells look amazing planted beneath deciduous trees, in drifts or even pots.

Bluebells are one of the few spring bulbs that tolerate some shade and don’t mind the sun. They are native to the edges of woodland areas, and so flourish in dappled light. In cool climates they will also, most obligingly, tolerate full sun.

Plant Bluebells into humus rich, well drained soil, 10-20cm deep and around 10cm apart, closer for a more immediate effect. The bulbs are best planted where they can be left to naturalise and can multiply gradually. Adding a general purpose fertiliser when they are in bloom will help them on their way. Our Tip: remove the flower stem once the bloom has finished, this will allow the bulb to grow larger, rather than wasting energy on seed production. The seed stems are even handsome enough to use in a vase.

Bluebell flowers are suitable for cutting.
