Euphorbia 'Blackbird'
A sure way to add striking impact to your garden. The red stems of Euphorbia 'Blackbird' are clothed heavily in no fade burgundy leaves. The dark colouration is amazing for creating contrast or introducing a defining feature in your garden.
The evergreen foliage is crowned with plenty blooms from mid winter to spring. The flowers are lime yellow with red blush running through them. This blush deepens with age, to almost match the foliage.
Euphorbia 'Blackbird' is well branched and compact, with something to offer year round.
Euphorbia 'Blackbird' is easy care, even in moderately fertile to poor soils as long as it has good drainage. It thrives in a sunny spot. It also grows well in containers. They are tolerant of coastal conditions and become dry tolerant as they establish. A light sprinkling of an all purpose fertiliser in spring is pretty much all they need to be happy. The flowers are sterile so last well and won't throw seed.
Plant in a sunny spot, if they are in too much shade the green colouring will dominate the foliage. Cut spent flower stems back to the base of the plant if they don't please you - don't forget to wear gloves as the sap irritates the skin as with all Euphorbias.
Euphorbia 'Blackbird' thrives in coastal areas, Mediterranean gardens, pots, beds, shrub border, fence lines or xeriscapes.
Euphorbia 'Blackbird' has been awarded the prestigious Plantarium Gold Medal in the Netherlands. It is also known as 'Nothowlee'
