Botanical Name: ‘Silver Swan’, ‘Blackbird’: Euphorbia characias. ‘Ascot Rainbow’: E. x martini.
Plant Type: Evergreen perennial
Size (HxW): ‘Silver Swan’: 50-70cm x 50-70cm. ‘Blackbird’: 40-50cm x 40-50cm. ‘Ascot Rainbow’: 50-90cm x 50-90cm. Plants will be smaller if grown in pots.
Depth & Spacing: Plant at the same level as in the pot with the roots spread below soil.
Soil: Moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Very tolerant of poor soils.
Aspect: Full sun to semi shade, they like it hot. They tend to flop in too much shade.
Climate: Cool to Mediterranean
Frost: Hardy
Water: Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low – at least four weeks of regular watering. In pots allow to dry out before watering. They tend to rot if left to sit in water.
Fertiliser: A light application of a well balanced fertiliser in spring, they are not heavy feeders.

After Flower Care: Remove spent flowers to tidy, cut them down to the base.
Notes: Keep an eye out for aphids and remove as required. As a Euphorbia care should be taken when handling as the sap is toxic and can irritate skin, we recommend using gloves when pruning.
