Snow Crocus 'Blue Pearl'

The colouring of these petite flowers is brilliant, almost luminescent in the winter sun.

The gorgeous flowers have a soft violet-pearl reverse and ice blue inner tepals (crocus do not have true petals). It is quick to establish and quite floriferous.

A strong growing variety good for naturalising. Each corm produces up to four blooms. Snow Crocus ‘Blue Pearl’ holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Snow Crocus have a graceful elegance that is hard to surpass. The blooms have a whispered fragrance that calls to the spring in the dying days of winter.

Crocus chrysanthus are also known as Snow Crocus or Botanical Crocus. They are much loved for their early colour, heart warming show and ease of care.

Snow Crocus grow best in Cool to Mediterranean climates where they impress in rockeries, beds, lawn plantings and pots. Plant in a sunny spot with well drained soil. Crocus will tolerate light shade, such as under deciduous trees, especially in warmer zones, but they need the sun to open their petals. They should be kept cool (by shade or mulch) in summer.

Snow Crocus bulbs don't need to be lifted every year, so you can allow them to naturalise and only dig and divide as required when they become crowded after four or five years. It is a good idea to protect new growth from slugs and snails. Fertilise your Crocus annually in winter and or spring depending on your soil.
