A garden worthy choice for shade or sun, this handsome plant has the versatility to grow as a ground cover, climber or trailer for pots and hanging baskets. You can even grow them indoors. The textural foliage sits above the ground and will ramble across the ground, sitting proudly above.
Parthenocissus sikkimensis is much slower than traditional Parthenocissus. It will gradually sprawl to cover areas, and rarely needs to be pruned. It will ramble along the ground, forming a tidy ground cover/carpet in shade or sun. It is just as easy over a trellis, in a hanging basket, over a retaining wall, on an obelisk or cling to a fence or wall. It is easy to keep to size.
Parthenocissus sikkimensis has glossy, palmate, or five lobed leaves in mid to deep green. They are very shade tolerant, don’t mind morning sun, though will stress in afternoon sun.
Plant Sikkim Creeper into moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil. Water in (plants take around four weeks of regular watering to establish), they become dry tolerant once established. That is about it! They will do their own thing while you do yours, and when you pass by you can smile to yourself.
