A handsome rosette of plump, fleshy, green, triangular foliage, each with a soft crinkle at their tip. The mature foliage develops a silver sheen, made up of tiny hairs. The leaves are around 5cm long and up to 3cm across.
Adromeishcus make great house and patio plants. They are easy care so great for beginners. The flower stems grow up to 20cm in summer with green tubular blooms that have a red blush. The short stems have red, hair like aerial roots which add a decorative element.
Another common name for this plant is Key Lime Pie.
Adromischus is a rare and beautiful member of the Crassulaceae family. They are easy to grow and thrive in pots or sharply drained soils. In pots use a cactus/succulent potting mix. Grow in part shade or shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Water in, then water only as the soil dries out – too much water may cause them to rot. They are sensitive to frost, so best grown in pots in cool climes. Add a diluted fertiliser that is low in nitrogen in summer. They like good air flow.
