Asiatic Matisse Lilium 'Hotel California'
A shimmering light.
In stock

Petals of sunshine with a bold, red eye. The freckles add a touch of whimsy to these bold blooms. The reflexed blooms last well and have a soft perfume (it does not have the warm smell of colitis).
All new AOA or Asiatic x Oriental x Asiatic Hybrid Lilies. Their breeding utilises the bold colours and strength of the Asiatic group and the long stems and large flowers of the Orientals. They open just before the Orientals, in around December and are terrific cut flowers, garden or potted plants. They have little to no fragrance.
These early summer superstars offer bright and lasting colour with their abundant, upward facing flowers that are fantastic for picking.
Simply plant, your Asiatic Lilies, fertilise and enjoy. Leave them in the ground to establish and they will bring you years of joy.
Choose a humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny location with protection from the hot afternoon sun. Water in well, then keep moist while in growth for best results. A sprinkling of fertiliser at the start of the season and again as the flowers are finishing will serve them well. Mulching over the summer will help to maintain moisture levels in the soil.
