These are next level Aquilegias. Bred from the well known and loved, Origami Aquilegia Series they now have all the mod cons.

These uniform, F1 hybrids have reliable, early and prolific. What is more, the stems are longer and the upward facing blooms are even bigger (they are about double the size of a standard bloom, up to 8cm) – great for cutting. They need less winter chill, which is good news for those of you wishing to grow them in warmer climes. They will flower in their first year from seed.

The name, Kirigami is the Japanese art of cutting and folding paper into artistic designs or objects. So, from Origami the art of paper folding, the Kirigami series was the natural progression.

Aquilegias are cottage garden essentials, with sweet flowers and delightfully lacy, mid green foliage. One of their notable features is the elegant, fern like leaves that can create a beautiful foil for the fading foliage of spring flowering bulbs.

Aquilegias thrive in light to moderate shade and, with sufficient moisture will tolerate full sun. They are best planted in moist, well drained, humus rich soil.

They will grow well in pots, just be sure to water them.

After the initial flowering has finished, you can cut the stems back to the basal foliage and fertilise for a second flush of flowers.

Aquilegia Kirigami Collection, one of each variety separately labelled. Includes ‘Dark Blue and White’, ‘Light Blue and White’, ‘Rose Pink and White’,’ Yellow’ and ‘Red and White’.
