Delphinium Sherwood Series Sky Blue

Pale blue, like summer skies, these flowers are a lovely pastel shade easily utilised in garden design.

The Sherwood Series of Delphiniums have nice, compact growth and totally fabulous flowers. Their stems are strong, so no staking is required. They are ideal towards the middle of a border where their blockbuster towers of colour will shine.

Delphiniums need cool winters to grow and perform at their best. Grow in a humus rich, moist, well drained soil. Delphiniums do not like to sit in water and good drainage is vital. Water in well, then keep moist during active growth.

Once the flower stem has finished, cut it back to just above the ground, add some fertiliser and you should have a second flush in autumn. Add more fertiliser when you see the new growth – they are heavy feeders because their blooms are so big and beautiful. It is a good idea to protect Delphiniums from slugs and snails, especially while young as they find them delicious.
