Beautiful variegated foliage in shades of green and cream.
A highly recommended ornamental grass with foliage that will overwinter. This compact, early flowering variety has good shade tolerance and is very easy growing.
The tall, purple-pink foliage plumes are upright and will remain so from summer to winter. The plumes can be cut and used in vase arrangements or dried. The new leaf margins have a hint of yellow before fading to white.
Plant Calamagrostis ‘Overdam’ in moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil, in a full sun to part shade position. Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low, they are dry tolerant once established. It is a good idea to prune them back hard late winter or early spring to make way for the new spring growth.
Calamagrostis ‘Overdam’ can be used as a specimen plant, for vertical interest in a border, in pots or mass plantings.
