Size (HxW): 10-15cm x 5cm. ‘Baby’s Breath’ and ‘Big Smile’: 10-20cm x 5-10cm.

Depth & Spacing: Plant 5cm deep, pointed end up, space 5cm apart.

Soil: Moderately fertile to humus rich, well drained soil, they really aren’t fussy.

Aspect: Full sun to semi shade. They are traditionally woodland plants so hot, afternoon sun should be avoided.

Climate: Cool to Mediterranean

Frost: Hardy

Water: Water to establish, then only if rainfall is low during active growth. Keep relatively dry during dormancy.

Fertiliser: Apply a well balanced fertiliser each spring. They are not heavy feeders.

Flowering Time: Late winter to early spring

After Flower Care: Remove seed heads to encourage better bulb growth, you can use them in cut flower arrangements. These bulbs may be left undisturbed for years. Allow foliage to yellow naturally. As required, these bulbs can be dug after the foliage has died right down. Lift and replant immediately or store in a dry, airy position to replant the following autumn.

Notes: These bulbs are wonderful planted in drifts, large clumps, pockets or massed in pots. Grape Hyacinths work well with other small spring flowering bulbs such as Crocus and Mini Daffodils. Good as cut flowers.
