Salvia Lilac Sage
Towers of flowers.
This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

A remarkable Salvia with an abundance of strong stems interspersed with dusty, purple flower whorls. The flowers last an age and pick well.
The low growing, mid green, aromatic foliage is quite handsome and forms a dense clump. No weed would dare penetrate its tight form.
Saliva verticillata is brilliant in beds and borders. It is commonly known as Lilac Sage or Whorled Sage.
When you pick the flowers, not only do you get to enjoy them indoors, you will also encourage more blooms to grow and extend the season. If you’d rather leave them in the garden, deadheading will keep the season going.
Grow Lilac Sage in a sunny location with protection from the hot afternoon, in any well drained soil. Salvias should be watered in and are then dry tolerant once established – though they are more lush with a bit of moisture. They look wonderful in beds, borders or dry gardens. Salvias have a vigorous growth and are easy care. It is winter dormant. Rabbits seem quite uninterested in it, snails are another story!
If it becomes lanky in early summer, give it a prune to half, fertilise, water in and it will be back and blooming in no time.
